
Livestock Deaths After Consuming Worm-Infested Brinjal in Gajendragad
A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday evening in the village of Macalazari, Gadag district, where five goats and eight sheep died after consuming worm-infested brinjal from a damaged plantation.
Local farmers Mariappa Mageri, Dymappa Mageri, and Lachamappa Dewanada had allowed their livestock to graze in the affected field. The contaminated brinjal led to severe stomach ailments in the animals, resulting in their unfortunate deaths.
Veterinary officials from the Gajendragad animal department were promptly dispatched to the site to treat the surviving livestock. The incident has caused significant distress and financial loss to the affected farmers, underscoring the need for better agricultural practices and livestock management.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the worm infestation and are working to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
