Mangaluru: A significant legal case has been filed at the Puttur Police Station following an assault on police officers in Bannur village, Puttur taluk. The accused, identified as Tejas, a local resident, has been apprehended.

The incident occurred on June 26, when Tejas was involved in a disturbance with his mother. Police officers were dispatched to address the quarrel, but Tejas allegedly misbehaved with them, using abusive language and threatening violence.

In a violent outburst, Tejas reportedly emerged from his home armed with a steel rod. He struck Police Constable (PC) Vinayak on the head and, despite attempts by officers to disarm him, continued to assault both PC Vinayak and another officer with his hands.

As a result, multiple complaints have been lodged against Tejas, including charges for insulting police officers, obstructing public and government duties, threatening life, and attempting to kill while the officers were on duty. The case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including sections 352, 351, 126(2), 132, 121(1), 109, 115(2), and 118.

The authorities are pursuing the case rigorously to address this serious breach of law and ensure justice for the affected officers.
