Mangaluru, February 26, 2025: Temples across Dakshina Kannada district are filled with religious zeal as devotees come together to observe Maha Shivaratri on Wednesday. Special poojas, rituals, and devotional activities are being held in several prominent Shiva temples to honor the occasion.

Key temples such as Kadri Shri Manjunatha, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Kudupu Sri Anantha Padmanabha, Sri Mangaladevi, Sharavu Sri Mahaganapathi, Kavoor Sri Mahalingeshwara, and Pandeshwar Mahalingeshwara are hosting grand celebrations. The temples are echoing with the sounds of hymns and prayers as the faithful gather to seek blessings from Lord Shiva.

At Karinjeshwara Temple in Bantwal taluk, the celebrations kicked off with a temple fair, religious programs, and devotional singing, which are scheduled to continue throughout the day. Similarly, Narahari Parvatha Kshetra is hosting night-long vigils, poojas, and bhajans, keeping the spirit of devotion alive throughout the night.

Other temples in the district, including Vitla Sri Panchalingeshwara, Netla, Bantwal Sri Mahalingeshwara, Sri Kshetra Odiyoor, and Ujire Sri Janardhana, are also witnessing special poojas, rituals, and cultural performances. The demand for flowers and fruits has risen sharply, reflecting the fervor of the occasion.

In Udupi, Maha Shivaratri celebrations are equally vibrant, with devotees taking part in prayers, abhisheka, and cultural performances. Key temples like Sri Ananteshwara, Sri Chandramoulishwara, and Sri Brahmalingeshwara held Panchamrita Abhisheka and Bilvaarchana from the early hours of the day. The celebrations will continue with devotional bhajans and an all-night jagarane, with many devotees observing fasting and participating in night-long prayers to mark this spiritually significant event.
