In a shocking turn of events, a man was discovered dead on the railway track in Bellayuru village near Mangaluru, and further investigation revealed a double murder at his residence. The deceased, identified as Karthik Bhat, reportedly took his own life by placing his head on the track.
Police, who initially found a scooter key and house keys near his body, traced the scooter to Karthik’s name using identification documents. This led them to his home in Pakshikere, Kemral village, where they discovered the bodies of his wife, Priyanka (28), and son, Hriday (4), lying in a pool of blood in a locked room.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Karthik, distressed by family conflicts, murdered his wife and child on the evening of November 8 before ending his own life. A death note found in his diary pointed to his intentions. The woman’s family in Shivamogga has been informed, and police are proceeding with the investigation based on statements from family members.
