
Mangalore cafe raided, police find hookah pots
Mangaluru East police conducted a raid at a café near Kankanady Circle on Monday night, uncovering unauthorized hookah smoking on the premises. Acting on a tip-off, officers arrived around 8:45 PM and found several young individuals consuming tobacco using hookah inside the establishment.
The café’s manager, 23-year-old Mohammad Sadiq, was questioned about the required permit to sell such tobacco products. He admitted to operating without a valid license. Upon further inspection, authorities seized six hookah pots, 25 flavored tobacco packets, 15 storage containers, and approximately ₹2,700 in cash.
The confiscated items were secured in the presence of witnesses, and police confirmed that legal proceedings will follow. Authorities continue to crack down on unauthorized hookah lounges operating without proper permits.
