Mangalore: Mahamandaleshwar Swamiji, president of the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti Karnataka unit, announced on Thursday that if the case filed against Hindus involved in the recent riots during the Ganesha immersion procession in Nagamangala, Mandya district, is not withdrawn, a protest will be held in front of Bengaluru’s Vidhana Soudha.
During a press conference, Swamiji expressed frustration with what he described as “vote bank politics” favouring minorities while ignoring the majority Hindu population. He emphasised the importance of unity within the Hindu community, urging Hindus to stand together regardless of caste and creed. “The Sant Samiti, which consists of more than 130 swamis from various Hindu sects, is ready to fight for the rights of Hindus if they are being wronged,” he stated.
Swamiji criticised attempts to disrupt traditional Hindu practices, calling on the government to take strong action against those involved in undermining Hindu culture. He clarified that the Sant Samiti holds no objections to the Muslim community but called for harmony in what he described as a predominantly Hindu nation.
Rajeshnath Guruji, from Arasiguppe’s Manjunatha constituency, also voiced concerns about what he referred to as “love jihad,” alleging that religion is being used to manipulate and harm Hindu girls. The leaders of the Samiti reiterated their stance on protecting the Hindu community from such threats.
The press conference concluded with a meeting of the executive committee, which included prominent figures such as Mahabaleshwar Saraswati Swamiji, Sadhguru Jayaprakash Swamiji, Nischal Niranjan Desikendra Swamiji, Shantaveera Shivacharya Swamiji, and Matashree Omsree Shivajna Nami Saraswati. They reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for Hindus and expressed readiness to take action if their demands are not met.
The Samiti warned that a protest at the Vidhana Soudha could be the first of many if the case against the Hindus involved in the riots is not withdrawn.
