On Monday, January 27, three well-known private schools in Mangaluru received alarming emails threatening the presence of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on their campuses.

These schools, situated in prominent areas under the jurisdiction of the city and rural police, were immediately secured for anti-sabotage operations. The City’s ASC Check unit and the Bomb Disposal Squad conducted extensive inspections, eventually confirming the absence of any hazardous materials or devices at the locations.

To safeguard the well-being of students and faculty, additional police forces have been stationed at the premises. Authorities have also directed school management to exercise heightened caution and implement stringent safety protocols.

Separate complaints have been filed concerning the threatening messages, and an in-depth inquiry has been launched to identify their source. Law enforcement officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly inform the police of any unusual activities or dubious communications.

This incident underscores the necessity of remaining prepared and alert in the face of potential threats to public safety. The swift action by police and school authorities averted panic, ensuring normalcy was quickly restored
