
Mangaluru: Beef Smuggling Exposed After Accident in Sajeepamunnur
Bantwal: An unexpected turn of events during a road accident at Gandhinagar Cross in Sajeepamunnur, Bantwal taluk, uncovered an alleged case of illegal beef smuggling. A case has since been registered at the Bantwal City Police Station against the accused rider.
Accident Leads to Discovery
The incident occurred on the morning of December 24 when Anuradha K, a resident of Dasaragudde in Sajeepamunnur, was riding her scooter to work. An unidentified rider, reportedly travelling at high speed and driving recklessly from the Sajeepa side towards Melkar, collided with Anuradha’s scooter near Gandhinagar Cross.
Both riders fell to the ground, sustaining injuries. During the commotion, several bundles of meat, tied in plastic, spilled onto the road from the accused rider’s scooter. This unexpected revelation pointed to possible illegal transportation of beef.
Accused Flees the Scene
The accused fled the scene immediately after the accident. Authorities are yet to identify the individual. According to the complaint, the rider was allegedly involved in illegal activities, including smuggling beef after slaughtering a cow for sale.
Case Registered
A formal complaint was filed at Bantwal City Police Station, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the identity of the accused and uncover further details of the alleged smuggling operation.
