Mangaluru, June 20, 2024: A protest by the Mangaluru Mandal BJP unit under the Thokkottu junction flyover on Thursday, June 20, against the state government’s fuel price hike, led to a heated altercation between BJP workers and local police. The confrontation escalated after Ullal Station House Officer H N Balakrishna allegedly manhandled Yuva Morcha leader Murali Konaje.
The incident occurred when BJP workers, after a protest meeting, attempted to block traffic on the highway. Officer Balakrishna intervened, and when Murali Konaje rushed to the middle of the highway, the officer allegedly grabbed his collar and moved him to the roadside. This sparked a heated exchange between the police and BJP workers, necessitating the intervention of ACP Ravish Naik to calm the situation.
