In a significant verdict, the Additional District and Sessions Court and Second Special POCSO Court in Mangaluru has acquitted a man accused of molesting a minor girl in Belthangady‘s Madantyar area.

According to the case filed at Belthangady Police Station, the accused, Shashwat, allegedly molested the minor girl on June 23, 2023, under the pretext of celebrating his birthday. The girl was invited to Shashwat’s brother’s residence in Madantyar, where the incident reportedly occurred.

The Belthangady Police had registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Circle Inspector Nagesh led the investigation and filed the chargesheet against the accused.

During the trial, the court examined 12 witnesses and scrutinized 24 documents. After evaluating the evidence, Judge Manu K.S. delivered the verdict, acquitting Shashwat of the charges.

Senior Advocate Harshakumar, who also serves as a Special Public Prosecutor for Income Tax cases, represented the accused.
