In a decisive step to bolster public safety and uphold law and order, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner and Additional District Magistrate, Anupam Agrawal, IPS, has enforced a complete ban on all drone operations within city limits for four days.

The prohibition, effective from 4 pm on May 10 to 4 pm on May 14, applies across the entire jurisdiction of the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate. Issued under Rule 24 of the Drone Rules, 2021, the order aims to avert any potential disturbances that could compromise peace and security during this sensitive period.

The directive clearly states that all types of drone flights, including aerial filming, are strictly forbidden during the ban window. “In view of the current climate, suspending drone activity is crucial to protect public welfare,” the order emphasizes.

To ensure rigorous enforcement, Station House Officers (SHOs) under the Commissionerate have been instructed to implement the ban without exception. The directive has also been dispatched to senior administrative and police officials including the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada and various Assistant and Deputy Commissioners of Police.

The Department of Information and Public Relations, All India Radio Mangaluru, and local tahsildars have been requested to disseminate the order widely. Violators found operating drones during the restricted period may face legal action under the applicable provisions.

The ban is already in force and will remain until the specified time.
