A total of 36,374 students, including 34,434 regular candidates, are set to take the second PU examinations starting this Saturday across 55 centres in Mangaluru.

For the first time, the Karnataka State Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) will introduce webcasting to monitor the examination process. Among the registered students, 1,631 are private candidates, 307 are repeat examinees, and two have enrolled for result improvement. The gender split shows 18,337 female and 18,037 male students.

The exams will be held across 22 aided, 18 unaided, and 15 government colleges. Mangaluru has the highest number of centres at 19, followed by Belthangady (7), Bantwal (6), Puttur (5), Moodbidri (5), Kadaba (5), Ullal (4), Sullia (2), and Mulki (2).

In the 2023-24 academic year, Dakshina Kannada topped with a 97.4% pass rate, followed by Udupi (96.8%) in the first attempt. Of 33,972 students, 33,562 passed in the three exam attempts.

To curb malpractices, three squads will oversee the process, with two-member teams stationed at each exam centre, taluk, and district level. Officials confirmed that webcasting will be monitored from the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat office.
