More than 500 cyclists gathered at City Centre Mall in Mangaluru on Sunday morning to celebrate World Bicycle Day. The ‘City Centre Cyclothon’ was organized by the City Centre Mall and We R Cycling Club (WERC), in collaboration with Mauve Watches, Mangalore Cycling, and Taj Cycles. This event aimed to promote health, fitness, and a greener future for Mangaluru.
Cyclists of all ages participated, showcasing a shared commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness. The event was supported by the Mangaluru city police, with notable attendees including Dinesh Kumar, DCP (crime & traffic); Geetha Kulkarni, ACP (CCB); Sawood, director of Mohtisham Complexes Pvt. Ltd; and Muthalib SM from Taj Cycles. The route covered key landmarks such as Hampankatta, Clock Tower, State Bank, DC’s office, Venkataramana Temple Square, Car Street, Dongerkeri Venkataramana Temple, Canara School, and Navabharat Circle, before returning to City Centre Mall.
At the end of the ride, participants had the chance to win high-end mountain bikes through a lucky draw sponsored by Kross Cycles and supported by Taj Cycles. The lucky winners were Siddarth Hegde from Canara CBSE School and Neeraj Kumar from BPCL.
