Mangaluru: The vibrant Kudla Pelakai Parba (Mangaluru Jackfruit Festival) is all set to take place on June 22–23 at the St Sebastian Centenary Auditorium, Bendoorwell. This two-day event, organized by Honeygensics Bee Farms and RO International, aims to honour local agriculture, coastal culinary heritage, and youth-led sustainable initiatives, said organiser Ashwin Sequeira.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, Sequeira emphasized that the festival is more than just a food fair—it’s a community movement. “It celebrates coastal identity, supports farmers and artisans, and encourages self-reliant entrepreneurship,” he noted.
Farmers from across Karnataka, including Ramnagar, Doddaballapura, Kodagu, and Udupi, will showcase and sell their fresh produce, including jackfruit, mangoes, avocados, dragon fruit, rambutan, and mangosteen. All products will be direct-to-consumer, ensuring farmers benefit directly.
The spotlight will be on jackfruit delicacies and value-added products from Mangaluru and Udupi, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore traditional and innovative local foods.
In addition to food, the festival will feature exhibits from small industries, homegrown brands, and artisans, providing a platform for local talent and enterprise.
To add flavour to the celebration, the event includes fun games, live entertainment, and an open mic, all coordinated by students of St Aloysius College and members of the Mangaluru City Rotaract Club.
