Candidates for the Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University exam faced significant challenges reaching their centers due to last-minute allocations based on the addresses in their Aadhaar cards. This change, combined with the delayed issuance of admit cards, caused considerable confusion and hardship for students and their parents.
The examination, which began on Saturday, deviated from previous practices where centers were assigned based on the Aadhaar addresses of music teachers. This year, the students’ Aadhaar addresses were used, leading to cases where students studying in different cities had to travel back to their Aadhaar-registered addresses. For example, a student from Bagalkot studying in Mangaluru had to travel to Bagalkot for the exam.
The junior grade, senior grade, pre-vidwat, and final vidwat exams were held over two days starting Saturday. However, exams in Belagavi were cancelled over the weekend due to heavy rain.
“Due to changes in examination centers which were not informed in advance, I had to rush to Bagalkot, though I pursue the course in Mangaluru,” said a parent of a candidate, highlighting the inconvenience caused by the sudden changes.
