Mangaluru: Picture celebrating your birthday at midnight — feet buried in soft sand, ocean breeze brushing your face, and a sizzling barbecue nearby. That dreamy coastal vibe might soon become a regular scene at Panambur Beach, as authorities gear up to transform it into a late-night coastal hangout.

Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP shared that plans are in motion to extend beach hours, with Panambur leading the way. With the state allowing businesses to remain open till 1 AM, the administration is working to upgrade lighting and CCTV surveillance to ensure visitor safety.

Currently operated by Kadali Beach Tourism Development, Panambur is undergoing lighting enhancements, expected to be completed within a week. Partners Lakshmish Bhandary and Dr Rajesh Hukkeri confirmed that preparations for welcoming nighttime visitors are underway, with live barbecue counters and beachside dining options being explored — much like global beach destinations.

The vision also includes cozy spaces for families and friends to unwind under starlit skies. Entry into the sea will be restricted post 7 PM, prioritizing safety while still delivering a rich beach experience.

The concept may soon expand to the soon-to-be-inaugurated Blue Flag Tannirbhavi Beach, and eventually to others depending on public response.

Panambur already attracts 6,000–8,000 visitors daily in peak season, and interest in sky dining, ziplining, zip cycling, and a newly installed 80-ft swing continues to grow.
