Mangaluru City Police have outlined extensive measures to ensure New Year festivities remain safe and orderly. Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal shared that an elaborate security strategy is in place to manage crowds, streamline traffic, and uphold law and order.
A total of 804 personnel will oversee the city, including three Deputy Commissioners, eight Assistant Commissioners, 20 Inspectors, 57 Sub-Inspectors, 76 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 570 Constables, and 70 Home Guards. Permissions have been granted for 49 New Year events, with officers stationed at these locations for public safety.
To deter illegal activities and ensure vigilance, 103 strategic checkpoints and 19 barricaded zones have been set up to monitor vehicles and prevent criminal activities. Additionally, 60 mobile units led by Sub-Inspectors will patrol the city, ensuring prompt responses to emergencies.
Thirty flying squads, comprising officers and led by Sub-Inspectors, will target drug-related offenses and other illegal acts. Emergency response teams, including three KSRP platoons and ten CAR units, are positioned across vital areas to handle crises.
Eight checkpoints will focus on preventing drunk driving. Furthermore, a special night patrol team, consisting of one ACP, two Inspectors, and six Sub-Inspectors, will monitor the city between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Twenty-two patrol vehicles will be on duty around the clock for swift emergency aid. Celebrations are permitted only until midnight to maintain order.
