In a bid to ensure road safety and prevent drink-and-drive during New Year celebrations, the Mangaluru City Police established multiple checkpoints across the city.

The department had earlier urged citizens to avoid drunk driving, practice safe driving habits, and use seat belts diligently.

During the operation, law enforcement officials inspected 555 vehicles within the jurisdiction of four traffic police stations, resulting in 25 cases of drink-and-drive offenses. The breakdown of cases included:

  • Mangaluru South Traffic Police: 6 cases
  • Mangaluru North Traffic Police: 11 cases
  • Mangaluru West Traffic Police: 5 cases
  • Mangaluru East Traffic Police: 3 cases

Authorities continue to stress the critical need for adhering to traffic regulations to safeguard public well-being.
