In a recent government notification, the boundaries of two police stations under the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate have been revised. Arkula and Adyar villages will now come under the jurisdiction of Kankanady Town Police Station, while Padav village will fall under Mangaluru Rural Police Station.

The changes affect several localities. Areas of Padav village—including Kulashekar, Silver Gate, Dairy Gate, Kulshekar Chowki, Padavinangady, Gurunagar, Mary Hill, Venkatramana Temple Road, Koppalakadu, Bandottu, Yeyyadi, Dandakeri, Shaktinagar, Neetinagar, Police Lane, Preeti Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Mugrodi, Labour Colony, KHB Nalyapadav, Gandakadu, Yeyyadi Industrial Area, Rajeev Nagar, Muthappa Gudi, Kakkebettu, Manjadka, Dattanagar, and Sirlapadpu—were earlier under Kankanady limits but will now be handled by Mangaluru Rural police.

Similarly, areas of Adyar and Arkula villages—such as Adyarpadav, Valachil, Somanatha Katte, Adyar Katte, Arkula, Srinivas College, and Sahyadri College—that previously came under Mangaluru Rural Police Station will now be overseen by Kankanady police.

From August 15, residents of Padav must approach Mangaluru Rural Police Station for services like filing criminal complaints, lodging petitions, passport verification, and obtaining police clearance certificates. Those in Adyar and Arkula will need to contact Kankanady Police Station for the same.

This jurisdiction reshuffle aims to streamline policing, improve accessibility for residents, and ensure better coverage of urban and semi-urban areas under the Commissionerate.
