Mangaluru: In a major operation against narcotics, Mangaluru city police have taken seven individuals into custody for allegedly supplying ganja to students, youngsters, and the general public. The arrests were carried out across various police station jurisdictions.

Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H revealed that officers, acting on reliable intelligence, apprehended Abdul Samad alias “Chammu” in the Khandathpalli locality. He had reportedly been discreetly peddling ganja for several days. About 40 grams were confiscated, and a case was filed at Mangaluru North Police Station. He is now in judicial custody.

In a separate incident, acting on a tip-off, police raided Kolnadu Lingappayyanakadu and detained local resident Dharmalinga for allegedly selling ganja to students, daily wage earners, and youth. Approximately 1.09 kg was seized, with the case registered at Mulki Police Station.

Meanwhile, Bajpe police intercepted two men from Bihar — Dolat Kumar Sharma and Mohammad Khushalam — in Maravoor. They were found with 1.189 kg of ganja and 219 grams of bhang.

In Padil, Karthik and Mohit were caught with eight grams of ganja. A case was booked at Kankanady Police Station, and they were sent to judicial custody.

Another arrest involved Pranav K V, an engineering student from Malappuram, Kerala, found with 1.1 kg of ganja. His case is with Mangaluru East Police Station.

The Commissioner stated that several buyers have been identified, and special police units are working to track them down.
