Mangaluru siblings Daniel and Dashiel Concessao have made history by earning a spot in Team India for ice skating at the prestigious Asian Winter Games 2025, set to take place in Harbin, China, this February. Their remarkable achievement highlights their dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
The duo hails from Derebail and are the children of Francis and Doris Concessao. Daniel, 21, is pursuing computer engineering at St Joseph Engineering College, while Dashiel, 18, is a first-year BBA student at SDM College. Their selection reflects years of training and passion for the sport, having transitioned from roller skating to ice skating over the past six to seven years.
Under the guidance of roller skating coach Mohandas K at Skate City in Mangaluru and ice skating coach K Srikanth Rao from Mysuru, the siblings have sharpened their skills. With the support of the Ice Skating Association of India, they’ve trained in locations such as Shimla, Delhi, Manali, and even Belarus. The selection process took place in Bangkok, Thailand, followed by individual training camps—Daniel spent a month in Harbin, China, while Dashiel trained in South Korea.
Both siblings began skating at a young age—Dashiel at 3.5 and Daniel at 5—demonstrating immense dedication. Their elder brother, Dafnal Concessao, expressed pride in their accomplishments, noting the sacrifices and rigorous training that led them to this moment.
The Asian Winter Games will offer a prestigious platform for the Concessao siblings to showcase their skills and bring honor to India. Their story serves as an inspiring testament to the power of perseverance and passion in achieving dreams.
