Over 2,000 students participated in a walkathon organized by the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore, in collaboration with Father Muller Charitable Institutions, St Aloysius Deemed-to-be University, St Joseph’s Engineering College, and the Catholic Board of Education. Held on Friday, the event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse with the slogan “Say No to Drugs.”
The walkathon began at St Aloysius Grounds and concluded at Nehru Maidan, where students passionately voiced anti-drug slogans, pledging to discourage drug use in their communities. Volunteers from the National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, and NCC cadets also participated, starting from the St Aloysius College campus.
Deputy police commissioner (law and order) Siddharth Goyal led an oath-taking ceremony at the event’s conclusion, urging students to stand united against the drug menace. Other notable attendees included DCP (crime and traffic) BP Dinesh Kumar, programme coordinator Louis J Pinto, Mangalore Diocese secretary John D’Souza, and Father Muller Institutions director Richard Aloysius Coelho.
