Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan announced exciting developments along the Tannirbavi Beach stretch to the Tree Park under the ‘One District One Destination’ initiative. This move aims to elevate the region’s tourism profile with enhanced infrastructure and activities.
The tender for maintaining the main stretch of Tannirbavi Beach, excluding the Blue Flag-certified area, is in the advanced stages of technical and financial evaluation. “We’re pleased with the participation of prominent players in the bidding process. The selected bidder will oversee maintenance for 10 years, ensuring the beach’s upkeep and sustainability,” said Muhilan.
For the Blue Flag Beach, the successful bidder will contribute ₹50 lakh in the first year, escalating to ₹2 crore by the 10th year, along with a 5% revenue share for the administration. Approximately 90% of the Blue Flag Beach’s development, funded by ₹16 crore under the Mangaluru Smart City Mission, is already complete. Notable features include advanced waste management systems and solar installations.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that continuous activities would keep the beach vibrant, offering visitors an enhanced experience. The district tourism committee has also finalized entry fees for the upgraded facilities.
With ongoing efforts by Mangaluru Smart City Limited and other stakeholders, the Tannirbavi stretch is poised to become a premier destination, combining sustainability with modern amenities.
