Mangaluru: The Mangalore City Crime Branch (CCB) has apprehended three additional suspects linked to the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, which occurred in Bajpe.

The newly arrested individuals have been identified as Azharuddin, also known as Azhar or Ajju (29) from Kalavaru village; Abdul Khader, also known as Naufal (24) from Bajpe; and Naushad (39) from Vamanjoor.

Authorities revealed that Azharuddin, who has three theft cases registered against him at Panambur, Surathkal, and Mulki police stations, had aided the killers by tracking and sharing Suhas Shetty’s movements.

Abdul Khader reportedly assisted in the getaway, helping the primary culprits escape the crime scene using a car. Naushad, on the other hand, is said to be the mastermind behind the plot. He has a criminal history, facing charges in six separate cases, including murder, attempted murder, and robbery conspiracy across various police jurisdictions such as Surathkal, Bajpe, Moodbidri, Mangalore North, and Bantwal Rural.

Following their arrest, the accused were presented in court. Azharuddin has been remanded to judicial custody, while Abdul Khader and Naushad have been placed in police custody for seven days to aid further investigation.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down other suspects involved in the killing, as the probe continues to expand.
