Mangaluru: Dr Arun Kumar Shetty, deputy director of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in Dakshina Kannada, has been chosen for the prestigious state-level Sarvottama Seva Award, an honour bestowed by the Government of Karnataka for exceptional public service.

Dr Shetty currently serves in multiple key roles, including as the in-charge Commissioner of Pilikula Development Authority and administrative officer of the Moodbidri Taluk Panchayat. His dedication to public welfare was earlier recognized with the district-level Sarvottama Seva Award while he was posted in Udupi in 2022.

The state-level recognition will be formally presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the Government Employees’ Day celebrations. The award ceremony is scheduled for Monday at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, where outstanding government officials across Karnataka will be honoured.

Alongside Dr Shetty, Shivaprasad Alva K, senior law officer from Mangaluru, has also been selected to receive the Sarvottama Seva Award at the state level. His selection underscores the important role legal officers play in upholding justice and ensuring smooth administration.

Both awardees have displayed consistent commitment and excellence in their respective fields, earning accolades for their service to society and governance.
