Mangaluru: After spending 134 days in a coma following a tragic road accident, 30-year-old Apoorva Bhat passed away on Tuesday, October 7, at a private hospital in Mangaluru. Her death has left her family and community — who had been fervently praying for her recovery — in deep grief.
The accident
The accident occurred over four months ago near Mura on the Mani–Mysuru National Highway, when a private bus collided with a car carrying Apoorva, her father Eshwar Bhat of Andepuni, and her young daughter. Both Apoorva and her father sustained severe injuries, while her daughter miraculously escaped with only minor wounds.
They were immediately rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru. While Eshwar Bhat gradually recovered, Apoorva never regained consciousness and remained in a critical condition throughout her treatment. Despite months of intensive medical care, her condition failed to improve.
A family’s fight for hope
Apoorva’s husband, Ashish Saradka, became a pillar of strength during her long battle for life. He turned to social media to share emotional updates and appeal for prayers, garnering widespread attention and support.
“Please pray for the mother whose daughter longs for her love every single day,” he wrote in one of his heartfelt posts, which moved thousands across platforms.
As his wife fought for her life, Ashish relocated from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, moving his household to remain close to her hospital. His devotion and daily updates inspired countless well-wishers to join him in prayer and solidarity.
A community in mourning
Despite relentless medical efforts and the collective prayers of many, Apoorva succumbed to her injuries on October 7. She leaves behind her grieving husband and a young daughter who, for months, waited for her mother to return home.
Apoorva’s story has become a poignant reminder of how fragile life can be, and how hope and love can unite an entire community in times of despair.
