Mangaluru— Ananya Rao, a native of Land Links, Mangaluru, has been commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant in the Indian Navy, marking a proud milestone for the city.

Daughter of retired telecom professional Satish Rao and Veena, Ananya was officially inducted as an officer during the passing out parade on May 31 at the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala. A student of local institutions up to her pre-university level, Ananya later pursued a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from NITK, Surathkal.
