Anil Ruben Mendonsa, a dedicated ambulance driver and social worker from Moodbidri, has set his sights on constructing 35 houses for the underprivileged. Having already completed three homes, he is currently working on his fourth and fifth for financially struggling families. Earlier this year, he built a home and daivasthana for a family in Karinje village, and now has requests from 35 more families in need of shelter.
Mendonsa, who owns an ambulance, devotes a significant portion of his time, resources, and energy to helping others. Not only does he spearhead housing projects for the poor, but he also rolls up his sleeves and joins the laborers in the construction process.
In Karinje, he donated a house named Anugraha, followed by Aashirvad in Alangar, and Aasare in Nethodi. His latest project, Nemmadi, is under construction in Bailadka, Belthangady taluk, for a family in desperate need. Mendonsa was moved to help after watching a video of a 105-year-old woman whose son suffers from a spinal injury.
Mendonsa’s charity work has attracted donors, and he established the Care Charitable Trust to further his mission. With 35 more families on his list, he estimates that each house requires Rs 5-10 lakh.
His vision: provide shelter, one home at a time.
