Vittal: A powerful explosion at Madathadka in Vittlamudnur village has left several homes damaged, prompting an investigation by the Bomb Defusal Squad. Following a police complaint at Vittal station, officials inspected the site on Wednesday to assess the cause and extent of the destruction.

Reports suggest that a stash of 200 gelatin sticks and a box of detonators had been stored near a stone quarry in the village. The explosives detonated suddenly two days ago, resulting in a massive blast that caused widespread structural damage. The shockwave impacted homes within a one-kilometer radius, affecting over 15 houses and alarming local residents.

In response to the incident, authorities have filed a complaint against Sri Rama Constructions, Kavalapadur, holding them accountable for negligence. Officials are now probing safety violations, and further action is expected based on forensic findings.

Residents have urged strict measures to prevent such disasters in the future, as quarry-related explosions continue to pose serious risks to nearby communities.
