Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has begun transitioning from its previously used in-house software to the state-mandated ‘Vyapar’ platform for all trade licence services. This move aligns with the Karnataka government’s directive to implement a uniform software system across all urban local bodies.

MCC Commissioner Ravichandra Naik confirmed that the earlier software developed with private partners has been discontinued. “As per the government’s instructions, we have suspended all trade licence operations on the old system. From now on, all issuance and renewal of trade licences will happen only through the ‘Vyapar’ software,” he stated.

The new platform simplifies the process with a two-step verification, making the system more transparent and efficient. It is expected to standardize operations statewide and reduce delays for applicants.

Traders seeking new licences or renewals must now use the online portal at www.mrc.gov.in. After selecting the ‘Citizen Online Services’ tab, they can access the ‘Vyapar Trade Licence’ section, submit applications, pay fees online, and even track and download their licence.

The commissioner advised all licence holders under the old system to re-submit necessary documents for renewals via the new platform. Fresh applicants are also required to apply through ‘Vyapar’.

The rollout is part of a broader digital governance push to bring consistency and ease of access to business-related services across Karnataka.
