Mangaluru: The Byndoor Branch of MCC Bank Ltd. celebrated Teachers’ Day on 4 September 2025, honouring educators for their selfless service and contribution to society. The event took place at the branch premises and reflected the Bank’s commitment to community engagement and recognition of teachers.
Distinguished guests and dignitaries
The programme was presided over by Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo, Chairman of MCC Bank. The Guests of Honour included Mr. Hosadu Rama Sherigar, Retired Head Master, Government Model Primary School, and Ms. Asha Veena Dias, recipient of the IIBS Best Teacher Award 2025.
Also present were Mr. Elroy K. Crasto, Director of MCC Bank, and Mr. Sandeep Quadras, Senior Manager of the branch. The event began with floral tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, in whose honour Teachers’ Day is celebrated in India.
Emphasising the role of teachers
In his presidential address, Chairman Anil Lobo expressed happiness at hosting the Teachers’ Day celebration in Byndoor. He highlighted the crucial role of teachers in shaping the future of students and described them as “nation builders.” He also commended the supportive community spirit of the Byndoor region that made such a celebration possible.
Mr. Hosadu Rama Sherigar, in his speech, appreciated the Bank’s initiative of recognising teachers—the first such celebration by MCC Bank in Byndoor. He praised the Bank’s progress and encouraged teachers to utilise its services. He reiterated that teachers play a fundamental role in building a strong and healthy society.
Ms. Asha Veena Dias shared her gratitude, noting that in her 18 years of teaching, this was the first time a Bank had honoured teachers. She described teaching as a selfless service and expressed heartfelt thanks on behalf of all educators present.
Felicitation and participation
As part of the event, all teachers attending were felicitated by Chairman Anil Lobo. The celebration saw the participation of around 60 teachers, making it a memorable and inspiring occasion.
The programme commenced with a prayer led by the branch staff. Mr. Elroy K. Crasto welcomed the gathering, while Mr. Sandeep Quadras, Senior Manager, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Mrs. Jonita Rebello, Senior Assistant.
