Mother and three children injured in gas cylinder explosion
A gas cylinder explosion in Kandika, under Manjanady village limits, left a mother and her three children severely injured. The incident occurred at midnight, causing extensive damage to the home.
The family, staying at the residence of Mutalib, was asleep when a loud explosion rocked the house. The blast destroyed the roof, shattered windows, and engulfed the bedroom in flames, burning the cot they were sleeping on.
Despite sustaining severe burns, the eldest daughter managed to open the door and rescue her siblings and mother. The injured—Khubra and her children, Meyadiaya, Maziya, and Mayida—were rushed to a private hospital in Deralakatte, where they remain in the ICU.
A local resident who heard the explosion raised an alarm, prompting neighbors to extinguish the fire. Authorities suspect a gas leak caused the blast. Tahsildar Puttaraji visited the scene to assess the situation.
