Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has been recognized for its significant efforts in the fight against tuberculosis (TB) during the World TB Day 2025 celebration in Mangaluru.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka; Dakshina Kannada District Administration; Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath; and Yenepoya Nursing College at Yenepoya Deemed to be University in Deralakatte.

Strengthening the Fight Against TB

Key speakers at the event, including Dr. H. R. Thimmaiah (District Health Officer), Dr. M. Vijay Kumar (Chancellor, Yenepoya University), and Dr. Khatija Dilshad (District Nodal TB Control Officer), emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies, healthcare institutions, and corporate entities in achieving a TB-free society.

MRPL’s Contributions to TB Eradication

MRPL has actively supported the National TB Elimination Program through various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including:
Donation of two CB-NAAT machines to Dakshina Kannada district hospitals for accurate and timely TB diagnosis.
Nutritional support to TB patients, including millets and other essential food items, aiding patient recovery.

Recognition for CSR Efforts

Acknowledging MRPL’s substantial contributions, the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, honoured the company at the event.
🏅 Shri B. Prashanth Baliga (General Manager, CSR) and Dr. Aravindan (Manager, Medical Services) received a citation from Dr. H. R. Thimmaiah and Dr. M. Vijay Kumar on behalf of MRPL.

World TB Day, observed annually on March 24, highlights the need for awareness, resources, and strategic initiatives to eliminate tuberculosis. The collaboration between government bodies, healthcare providers, and corporate partners is crucial in achieving this goal.
