As part of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) organized an impactful awareness programme on kitchen waste management and pot composting in Kuthethur village. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission and Sri Mahalingeshwar Yakshagana Mandali, Kuthethur, aiming to educate the local community and Self-Help Group (SHG) members on sustainable waste practices.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 70 villagers, who gathered to learn practical solutions for managing household organic waste. Mr. Ranjan Bellararpady of Ramakrishna Mission conducted a live demonstration on pot composting techniques and emphasized the importance of kitchen waste segregation at source.
Adding a cultural dimension, Sri Mahalingeshwar Yakshagana Mandali engaged the audience with performances that highlighted environmental stewardship and the ethos of cleanliness.
The event was graced by Shri Prashant Baliga, General Manager – CSR, and Shri Keshav Patali from MRPL, who reiterated MRPL’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare.
To encourage eco-friendly practices, jute bags were distributed to all participants at the end of the programme, reinforcing the message of reducing plastic usage in daily life.
This initiative reflects MRPL’s ongoing efforts under its CSR banner to empower local communities and promote “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat”.
