In a puzzling turn of events, a motorbike, mobile phone, shirt, and slippers were discovered abandoned beneath the old Netravati bridge near Panemangalore on the morning of June 5.
The items have been identified as belonging to Ramesh Rai Nellikatte, a BJP leader and elected councillor of the Puttur City Municipal Council, who had recently won a by-election.
Locals spotted the items around 11 am and promptly alerted law enforcement. Upon examining the mobile phone left at the scene, authorities confirmed the owner’s identity as Ramesh Rai.
Soon after, police personnel, his family members, and area residents gathered at the location. A search operation has since been launched in the river to locate him.
The incident has triggered concern and speculation, with officials working to determine whether foul play, a mishap, or other factors are involved.
