An unidentified individual, believed to be a daily wage earner, was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances near the Kudupu bridge on the outskirts of the city on Sunday evening, April 27.
Police sources confirmed that the man’s identity remains unknown. Although there was initial speculation suggesting possible foul play, authorities have clarified that no definitive conclusions can be drawn yet regarding the cause of death. “Following the preliminary assessment, we are currently unable to ascertain how the death occurred,” officials remarked.
Forensic teams have emphasized that only a detailed post-mortem examination will reveal the true cause. Pending the autopsy results, the case has been classified as a ‘suspicious death’ rather than being registered as a homicide for the time being.
Amid a flurry of circulating rumors about the nature of the death, law enforcement officials urged the community to refrain from spreading unconfirmed reports. “We appeal to the public to avoid believing or sharing any unofficial information,” they added.
A team from the Mangaluru Rural police station promptly reached the location, close to Bhatrakallurti temple, and carried out a thorough examination of the site.
Authorities have assured that a detailed inquiry is in progress to uncover the facts behind the incident. The outcome of the post-mortem will play a crucial role in determining the next course of action.
