A leopard was found dead under unclear circumstances near Ulepadi, close to Kinnigoli, raising concerns among the local community.
The carcass was discovered on Sunday near Ulepadi Sanad. Ikkala Gram Panchayat member Rajesh Shetty promptly notified the forest department, who quickly responded with forest officials and veterinary experts conducting an inspection at the scene.
A post-mortem was carried out to determine the cause of death, and authorities are awaiting the final report. Initial assessments suggest that the leopard may have died due to illness or starvation. In line with protocol, the carcass was cremated at the site.
Leopard sightings have become increasingly common in and around Kinnigoli, with several reports of pet dogs falling victim to these predators. CCTV footage from multiple locations has also shown leopards wandering through residential areas.
A few months ago, a leopard was spotted attempting to attack farmers in Elathur, though the farmers managed to escape without injury.
