In a landmark achievement, the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has recorded its highest-ever cargo throughput of 46 million metric tonnes (MMT) for the financial year 2024–25. This new record surpasses the previous benchmark of 45.7 MMT set in FY 2023–24 and marks a significant milestone in the port’s golden jubilee year.

To celebrate the achievement, NMPA hosted a grand Awards Nite on Wednesday at the BDC Auditorium, recognizing the contributions of stakeholders including terminal operators, shipping agents, stevedores, exporters, and importers.

P Vinitha Sekhar, Commissioner of Customs, Mangaluru, praised the close cooperation between NMPA and the Customs Department, crediting this synergy for helping Customs Mangalore exceed all its financial targets for FY 2024–25.

Venkata Ramana Akkaraju, Chairman of NMPA, expressed pride in the port’s growth and performance, calling the 46 MMT mark a “historic achievement.”

Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta commended the port’s resilience and continued progress in spite of global challenges such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Red Sea crisis. He also acknowledged the strategic leadership of the NMPA chairman for guiding the port to new heights of operational efficiency.

Deputy Chairperson S Shanthi and Chief Vigilance Officer Padmanabhachar K were also present during the event, adding to the celebration of NMPA’s landmark year.
