
NHAI Enforces Speed Limits on Coastal Karnataka Highways Amid Rain Damage
In response to ongoing heavy rains and damage to national highway stretches in coastal Karnataka, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a speed limit warning for motorists in Dakshina Kannada. A 40kmph speed limit has been set for the NH-66 stretch between Surathkal and Thokkottu, and the NH-73 stretch between BC Road and Nanthoor. NHAI has also recommended a 60kmph limit on all other national highway stretches to ensure user safety.
Train Cancellations Extended
The South Western Railway is continuing restoration work between Kadagaravalli and Yedakumeri stations on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru route. Though the track is fit for goods train movement at 15 kmph, several passenger trains remain canceled until early August.
Investigation into Dumping of Dead Sheep in Surathkal
Kavoor police are investigating the dumping of 15 dead sheep near the NITK old tollgate in Surathkal. Locals reported the incident to corporator Shwetha Poojary, leading to an MCC response and the cremation of the carcasses. Initial investigations suggest the sheep died during transport from North Karnataka.
