The 44th edition of Incident, themed ‘Udbhav’, was inaugurated at NITK Surathkal with a grand celebration. Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, in his keynote address, highlighted the immense energy of youth and the region’s vast potential. He emphasized that students shape India’s future, while India shapes the world’s destiny.
Chowta also spoke about his ‘Back to Ooru’ initiative, urging successful individuals to return and uplift the region. He shared that two companies have already committed investments in Mangaluru SEZ in sustainability, and expressed his vision to make Mangaluru Karnataka’s next startup hub by uniting institutions.
Former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik reflected on the festival’s legacy, calling it an unforgettable milestone that fosters cherished memories. He encouraged students to use their time at NITK to explore their potential and support the underprivileged.
NITK Director Prof B Ravi lauded Incident’s role in balancing technical and creative skills, making it one of the institute’s most significant events.
Launched in 1980, Incident has evolved into a four-day cultural extravaganza featuring over 50 competitions across Music, Dance, Literature, Sports, Fashion, Business, Gaming, and Drama. The festival, which showcases talent from across the country, will continue till March 9.
