Notorious gangster Isaac shot while fleeing police in Udupi
Isaac, a criminal allegedly linked to the Garuda gang, was shot in the leg while attempting to escape police custody in Hiriyadka on Wednesday. A police inspector was forced to open fire after Isaac turned violent during transport from Channarayapatna to Udupi.
Udupi SP Arun K stated that a special task force, led by senior officers, apprehended Isaac and three accomplices in Hassan district. While being escorted to Manipal, the police vehicle stopped near Gudde Angadi at 7:15 PM when Isaac claimed he needed to vomit. Seizing the moment, he attacked the officers, broke the police vehicle’s windshield, and attempted to flee. Despite multiple warnings, he refused to surrender, prompting Inspector Devaraj to fire a warning shot. As Isaac persisted, he was shot in the leg to prevent his escape. Both he and injured police personnel were hospitalized.
Isaac had previously evaded arrest in Manipal, ramming his vehicle into police and public property before abandoning it. His reckless actions injured officers and led to a tense pursuit. Authorities continue to investigate his criminal network.
