Mangaluru: A team of officials from Karnataka’s revenue, mines and geology departments, along with the police, conducted a joint raid on illegal sand mining operations in Bantwal taluk, seizing 23 boats worth ₹46 lakh. The raid targeted areas along the Nethravathi River, including Valachil, Maripalla, and Pudu, following numerous complaints about illegal sand extraction in the region.

The raid was led by Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner Harshavardhan, with Mangaluru Tahsildar Prashanth Patil and Bantwal Tahsildar Archana Bhat overseeing the operation. The seized boats have been secured at Adyar Katte.
