Mangaluru – A blood donation camp was organised on 15 April 2025 at P.A. First Grade College, Mangaluru, in a joint initiative by the Youth Red Cross, NSS, and IQAC units of the college. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Red Cross Society Blood Bank of Government Lady Goschen Hospital, aiming to encourage voluntary blood donation among students and promote awareness about its health and societal benefits.

A message of life-saving generosity

Dr. Sukhesh, Medical Officer of the Dakshina Kannada Indian Red Cross Society, served as the chief guest. He delivered a compelling speech emphasising the significance of blood donation as a noble act. “Among all forms of donations, blood donation is the greatest. It not only saves lives but also contributes positively to the health of the donor,” he said.

The event was presided over by Dr. Sarfraz J. Hasim, Principal of P.A. First Grade College, who delivered the presidential address and applauded the enthusiastic participation of the student community. He emphasised the importance of social responsibility and the role of youth in humanitarian causes.

    Students take the lead

    The programme was compered by Ms. Hiba Mariam, and began with a warm welcome by Ms. Shafna Shireen of 3rd year BCA. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Fowz Fatima of 2nd year BCA, who expressed gratitude to the organisers, guests, and student volunteers.

    A total of 150 students came forward to donate blood during the camp, making the event a significant success and a testament to the spirit of giving among the youth. The active participation reflected both awareness and compassion, aligning with the broader goals of the Red Cross and national health initiatives.

    Building a culture of care

    This camp was part of the college’s ongoing efforts to instil civic responsibility, empathy, and leadership among its students. The collaboration with Government Lady Goschen Hospital and the Indian Red Cross Society further strengthened the message of community care and public health awareness.

    The organisers noted that the success of the event has set a positive precedent for future social and health initiatives on campus.
