A youth from Karkala received a suspicious message via WhatsApp from a Pakistan-registered number on May 10, raising red flags about potential cyber threats. The youth acted swiftly, reporting the incident to authorities.
In response, Udupi district police have launched a public advisory, urging residents not to engage with unknown international numbers, especially those sending unusual messages or links. The advisory strictly warns against sharing OTPs or personal details under any circumstances.
Police stressed the importance of public awareness and cyber vigilance, urging anyone encountering similar incidents to report them immediately.
