Panambur: Two local fishermen from Panambur, Yashwant Karkera (52) and Kamalaksha Salian (47), have been reported missing since Friday while attempting to remove their fishing nets near the Thotabengre coastal area.

Following their disappearance, the Indian Coast Guard launched an extensive search operation in the open sea. Additionally, fellow fishermen from the region organized a separate search mission on Sunday, combing through the inlet waters and nearby coastal stretches by boat, hoping to find any trace of the missing men or signs of their small fishing vessel.

Despite the combined efforts, including aerial and sea-level searches, no clue had been found by Sunday evening. Responding to an appeal made by MP Brijesh Chowta, the Coast Guard intensified their operation, but the search yielded no leads.

Family members, local fishermen, and authorities remain concerned as the hours pass without any progress. The cause of the disappearance remains unclear, with fears of the boat capsizing still under investigation.

Search teams are expected to continue their efforts over the coming days, holding out hope for the safe recovery of the two missing fishermen.
