Bantwal: In a shocking incident, a pickup truck driver identified as Raheem was hacked to death in broad daylight on Thursday near Irakodi, Kambodi, in Bantwal taluk, Dakshina Kannada district.
The brutal attack occurred while Raheem was unloading sand at a site in the area. According to preliminary reports, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle approached the victim and attacked him with a machete, inflicting fatal injuries. The attackers fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.
Bystander injured during the assault
Another person who was accompanying Raheem at the time of the incident also sustained injuries to the hand during the attack. The injured individual has been admitted to a local hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Authorities have not released the person’s identity as of now.
Motive unclear, investigation underway
The exact motive behind the murder remains unclear at this stage. The Bantwal Rural Police reached the scene shortly after the incident was reported and have begun a detailed investigation.
Police sources say they are verifying all possible angles, including personal enmity, business disputes, or gang-related activity. Forensic teams have also been deployed to collect evidence from the crime scene, and efforts are underway to identify and track down the culprits.
