Karnataka Minister NS Boseraju revealed plans to significantly revamp Pilikula Nisargadhama in Mangaluru on November 30. Initially launched as a tourist destination by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in 2018, the proposed overhaul seeks to transform it into a world-class attraction. Boseraju, the Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science, and Technology, mentioned that the development proposal would be reviewed at the upcoming Pilikula Development Authority meeting.

During a review meeting with the Science and Technology Department, the minister emphasized Pilikula’s vast potential as a key tourist hub. He highlighted that the extensive land within the Pilikula Wildlife Sanctuary makes it a prime candidate for such a large-scale transformation. The comprehensive development plan will be discussed in detail at the next meeting, and a formal proposal will be included in the upcoming state budget.

Boseraju also announced that the Department of Science and Technology is organizing a two-day Quantum Summit in July 2025 to showcase Karnataka’s progress in quantum technology and foster global partnerships. Talks with international experts are ongoing to facilitate knowledge exchange.

Furthermore, the minister urged quick action on establishing new sub-regional science centers in Raichur, Chikkamagaluru, and Yadgir. He updated that the Science City project near Bengaluru International Airport is advancing, with the land already provided by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), and preparations for the Detailed Project Report are underway.
