Pillion Rider Dies After Falling from Bike Near Shankaranarayana
A tragic accident claimed the life of a pillion rider, Sumathi, near the Anantha Padmanabha temple in Siddapur Kelapete, Udupi. The incident occurred on September 5 within the Shankaranarayana police station limits.
As per the complaint filed by Rajesh from Tenkabettu, Vakvadi village, Sumathi was riding with her nephew Nagesh on a motorcycle. After visiting the Shankaranarayana temple, they decided to head to Kamalashile temple. While traveling on the Shankaranarayana-Siddapur road around 5:30 pm, Nagesh, allegedly riding at high speed, applied the brakes abruptly to avoid a pothole. This sudden action caused Sumathi to lose balance and fall off the motorcycle, hitting the road.
Nagesh and nearby locals quickly provided first aid and rushed Sumathi to a private hospital. Due to the severity of her head injuries, she was later transferred to another hospital in Manipal. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
A case has been registered with the Shankaranarayana police station, and investigations are underway.
