As the new academic year approaches, schools in the twin districts are gearing up for reopening on May 29. The school education and literacy department are working diligently to ensure a smooth start, with plans in place to distribute uniforms and textbooks to students on the first day.
Currently, approximately 47.67% of textbooks and uniforms for Udupi and 44.68% for Dakshina Kannada have been supplied, with ongoing efforts to complete the distribution. While Dakshina Kannada has received two pairs of uniforms, Udupi is awaiting their supply.
Additionally, an enrollment campaign is slated to kick off, encouraging families to enroll their children in government schools. Representatives from the education department, along with school staff, are reaching out to households to showcase the facilities and benefits offered by government schools.
Furthermore, the school education department has outlined various plans for student and teacher development, with inspections scheduled at multiple levels to ensure implementation. Reports on fund usage, including provisions for mid-day meals, will be scrutinized.
District Deputy Directors of Public Instruction (DDPI) have instructed school headmasters to undertake maintenance tasks, including repairing buildings and furniture, painting, and cleaning the campus and classrooms. Measures are also being taken to prevent any inconvenience to students during the rainy season, such as addressing roof leaks promptly.
With a focus on student welfare and infrastructure enhancement, the twin districts are poised for a successful reopening of schools in the new academic year.
