Mangaluru: BJP’s outspoken leader Arun Kumar Puthila has been issued a summons to appear for an inquiry on June 6 regarding his proposed externment from Dakshina Kannada district. The directive, served by the assistant commissioner and sub-divisional magistrate of Puttur, instructs Puthila to relocate to the Shahabad police station jurisdiction in Kalaburagi.

The action is being taken under provisions of the Karnataka Police Act. The 54-year-old has been allowed to present his case either personally or through legal representation. The notice warns that failure to attend will be treated as unwillingness to contest the order, leading to a unilateral decision based on current evidence.

Reacting strongly, Puthila accused the Congress-led government of targeting Hindu leaders and favoring minority groups. “This externment notice is part of a pattern to silence voices committed to national and religious ideals,” he claimed.

Calling the move an attempt to weaken their grassroots efforts, Puthila said, “We actively take part in religious and ideological activities. Such actions will only strengthen our resolve.”

He vowed to consult senior party leaders before finalizing his response. “We’ve been part of the RSS for years, and our work has never been disruptive. The real threat comes from those disturbing public peace—not our karyakartas who serve society,” he stated.

Puthila added that the people would give a fitting reply to what he termed political vendetta.
